WESTLOCK – A woman, Erin Noella Schembri, who was “lost” in the justice system somewhere has been found, Westlock Court of Justice heard on Feb. 12.
Defence lawyer Richard Forbes said Shembri was located in the system and she is in custody.
“That’s good news,” said Justice G. Rice.
Last month when Erin Noella Schembri was scheduled to appear in court, her defence lawyer said that he was told she was arrested by Edmonton Police but he couldn’t locate her at either the Edmonton Police cells or the remand centre.
The Crown had previously told the court that she was arrested Jan. 11 by Edmonton Police.
Forbes asked the court for an adjournment to March 5 to give him time to get instructions from his client.
Court records reveal that Schembri faces a charge in Edmonton of theft over $5,000. In Westlock court, Schembri faces two charge of possession of stolen property, mischief/damage under $5,000, failing to comply with a probation order, possession of a controlled substance, driving while unauthorized, driving without insurance, and failing to attend court.
