During the month of June, the Westlock RCMP Detachment responded to a total of 509 calls for service.
They included 7 assaults, 16 break and enters, 10 incidents of uttering threats, 27 motor vehicle collisions, 12 thefts, 39 incidents of mischief, and 23 mental health calls.
Westlock resident hide and seek fail from RCMP
On June 30, at 9:39 a.m., Westlock RCMP received a report of a resident advising that someone had broken into a local tow yard and stole a vehicle and a trailer. The police investigation revealed a possible suspect and a short time later the stolen vehicle was located at a residence in Westlock where the suspect was attempting to hide the vehicle.
Officers obtained a search warrant to enter the property to search for both the stolen vehicle and other items. When officers attended the residence to execute the search warrant five individuals on the property were arrested. One of the female occupants attempted to flee police and was arrested. She now faces charges for resisting arrest.
At the conclusion of the search warrant police seized the stolen vehicle and returned it to the tow yard. While recovering the vehicle, officers located the clothing worn by the two suspects in the vehicle and are continuing the investigation.
Cody John King, 40, of Westlock was charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000 and was released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Westlock on Aug. 28.
In addition, a 30-year-old woman whose name can’t be released as formal charges were not yet sworn at the time of this release, has been charged with resisting arrest and was released to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Westlock on Aug. 28.
