By registering online, participants will receive crime, public safety alerts

WESTLOCK — The Westlock RCMP encourages local residents to sign up for a new Rave Mobile Safety mass notification system that will provide them alerts related to public safety and crime prevention.

Users register online and then select the region or regions they wish to receive alerts for, as well as the type of information they want to receive.

Examples of different alerts include traffic advisory notifications, crime watch notifications, crime prevention tips, requests for public assistance and general public safety messaging.

They then indicate how they would like to receive alerts, whether it be via phone calls, SMS text messages or e-mails.

Staff Sgt. Jeff Sehn of the Westlock RCMP indicated via an e-mail that this system is being put into use across the entire ‘K’ Division.

By staying informed about public safety, residents and the police can work together to reduce crime and improve the safety of their communities.
