Pie-A-Teacher raises money for Westlock Food Bank

Whipped-cream pies went airborne for a good cause

GALLERY - DAPP - Pies were flying for a good cause in Dapp, as Pembina North Community School students celebrated the end of a successful community fundraising campaign.

For the entire the month of October, the school ran a "toonie drive" in support of the Westlock and District Food Bank.

"The total donations that were raised was $3,456.00," said PNCS administrative assistant Jan Borst.

The school organized an exciting windup for the fundraiser and timed the event as part of the school's fun-tastic Halloween festivities. The highlight of the celebration came when the three classes that raised the most donations got to Pie-A-Teacher with whipped cream pies.

The brave staff members who were pied were Jessica Mielke, Mike Ivey and Kim Miller.

However, it wasn't all bad news for the three "pied" PNCS staff: after their ordeal, they enjoyed a photo op posing with the giant promo cheque for the Food Bank.
