WESTLOCK— Morinville RCMP responded to a collision involving a semi truck and a train on Highway 44 at Township Road 570 on Tuesday afternoon, says Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, Public Information Officer, Alberta RCMP Media Group.
Two people were inside the semi — the driver was treated for minor injuries on scene and the passenger was airlifted by STARS to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The train was carrying lumber and was reported to be already crossing the highway section of Hwy 44 when it was struck by the semi tractor trailer unit.
CN and RCMP have been notified. The incident is still under investigation.
