Former Pembina Hills school division Supt. Richard Harvey did not appear in Barrhead Provincial Court last week.

Harvey was scheduled to appear on July 23 to enter a plea on the fraud charges he is facing, but was not in attendance. Instead, his lawyer requested more time to review the disclosure and decide how to plea.

Judge Norman Mackie allowed the adjournment, and now Harvey is scheduled to appear and plea on Aug. 6.

During Harvey’s last court date on May 14, Judge Bruce Garriock gave him two months to review the disclosure, and set July 23 as the date on which Harvey was to enter a plea.

Harvey, 61, is charged with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust for allegedly submitting excessive expense claims to the school division between May 1, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2010.

Harvey had left his post with the division under mysterious circumstances on Oct. 25, 2010, two months earlier than his scheduled retirement date.

At the time the division would only say he was no longer an employee.
