Man faces sex charges in Westlock court against child

WESTLOCK – A man accused of sexual exploitation of a child wants a judge alone trial with a preliminary hearing. There is a publication ban on information that would identify the victim.

He faces seven charges in total, including sexual assault, sexual contact with a child, sexual counsel of a child, sexual exploitation, distributing sexually explicit material of a child under 16, and sexual counsel of a child.

Lawyer changed

A woman arrested after police seized a large quantity of meth and cocaine and who is waiting to get into Drug Treatment Court, is changing lawyers.

Lana Kaye Wolfe told Westlock Court of Justice on Aug. 28 that she has removed her legal aid lawyer and has retained defence lawyer David Keyes.

She faces five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of unstamped tobacco.

Keyes asked for an adjournment until Sept. 25.

Guilty plea entered 

A trial scheduled for November has been vacated after Tyler Mayer pleaded guilty Aug. 28 to assault causing bodily harm.

A pre-sentence report was ordered and the matter was adjourned to Nov. 27 for sentencing.
