WESTLOCK – Cody King was handed 105 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to possession of property over $5,00 and two counts of mischief/damage to property.

Court heard that in June, Cody John King was in possession of a stolen vehicle in Westlock.  Westlock RCMP arrested him after they found him in an apartment hiding behind a couch.

King , 40, was also charged with an incident in March where his girlfriend, covered in red paint, called police saying that King had kicked her out of their home and ran over her belongings.

He appeared in Fort Saskatchewan Court of Justice by CCTV from the Edmonton Remand Centre on Nov. 21 to face the charges out of Westlock. He was denied bail in October for his August charges and has been in custody since then.

In an Aug. 22 incident in Westlock, King was charged with two counts of setting a trap likely to cause harm, assault of a peace officer, break and enter, and mischief. RCMP say they had responded to a report of a break-and-enter into a home where tenants had been evicted and were repeatedly breaking back in.

Brenda Logan, who was King’s co-accused, was also injured in the incident and taken to hospital.

Both the RCMP officer and Logan recovered from their injuries.
