A 21-year-old Westlock woman is dead following a weekend collision on Highway 2 north of Clyde.
In the morning of June 30, Westlock RCMP responded to a report of a collision about one kilometre north of the Clyde turnoff.
Police determined that a southbound 2002 Pontiac Grand Am lost control and crossed the centre line. The vehicle slid sideways into the path of a northbound 2009 Kenworth semi truck and was struck broadside.
The Westlock woman, the lone occupant of the Pontiac, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the northbound truck, a 45-year-old man from British Columbia, was not injured.
Police are not releasing the woman’s name until her family has been notified.
The RCMP would like to remind the public to use extra caution when driving on the highways during holiday long weekends.
