CLYDE – Village of Clyde council doesn’t plan on giving themselves a raise anytime soon.

The honorarium for the mayor is currently at $800 per month and $550 monthly for councillors. The rates haven’t been increased since 2015.

“Keep the honorarium the same,” said Coun. Danielle Dillman.

In a report to council during the Village of Clyde’s Public Policy and Priorities meeting on Sept. 16, Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent said the Village of Clyde Expense Policy was established in 2022 and increased council’s honoraria by $50 per month.  This was the first increase to their pay since 2015.

Councillors agreed, however, to increase their mileage rate to match the Government of Canada recommendation of $.70 per kilometre for the first 5,000 km driven and $.64 per kilometre after that. The mileage rate hasn’t increased since 2017, noted Parrent.

“We should stay current,” said Mayor Charis Aguirre.

The committee recommendations will be brought forward to council at their regular council meeting in October.
