CLYDE – The Village of Clyde council reviewed its rates and fees bylaw during their regular meeting on Dec. 9 with no increases to utility or other rates proposed.
“Administration is not recommending an increase to utility or other rates at this time,” said Chief Administrative Officer Jaye Parrent, adding that she recommends the bylaw be revised to provide better clarity.
She said the village should remove the service for compliance certificates and note that the village’s recycling charges will end for utility accounts on April 1, 2025.
Approval of borrowing bylaw
Council approved a borrowing bylaw for 2025 at the requirement of ATB.
The village has access to a line of credit of $300,000, which is at a zero balance, Parrent told council.
“The line of credit has been in place for a number of years and while it has not been used it is available in the event of emergencies,” she said.
The village also has a MasterCard with a monthly limit of $10,000.
Parrent said the use of the village’s MasterCard enables the village to complete payments for items where they don’t have supplier credit accounts and for vendors who don’t accept cheques.
Appointing returning officer
Ahead of the October 2025 municipal elections, the village council unanimously approved appointing Megan Brake as the returning officer and Jaye Parrent as the substitute backup.
