WESTLOCK — The region’s business community and their contributions to the local economy will be celebrated during Small Business Week Oct. 20-26.

The Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the Westlock Economic Region this year to present the 2024 Business Breakfast, previously known as the Mayor’s Breakfast.

“With the expansion of the event to include not only the town, but the county and the Village of Clyde and the Westlock Economic Region, it didn’t feel accurate anymore calling it the Mayor’s Breakfast because it’s more than that,” said Westlock and District Chamber of Commerce president, Graeme Harrington. “So it made sense to give the event a different name.”

The annual event includes a hot breakfast and door prizes and will also provide networking opportunities for the region’s business community and a chance to learn more about the Westlock Economic Region.

“The Westlock Economic Region is a keynote (presenter) and it will be a little bit different style of presentation in terms of how it’ll be delivered,” said Harrington. “The chamber will present as well and are planning to roll out a couple of minor initiatives focusing on the business community and a little more collaboration with the town.”

Harrington said they would like to build on the success of last year’s event, which saw about 100 attendees and noted the important role small businesses have in our community.

“It’s nice to have a week to feature them, but it’s important to recognize them, support them and celebrate them all year really, because they’re the core of our community and the greater community,” said Harrington. “They’re so important to the whole community.”

Tickets can still be purchased until the morning of Oct. 21, either by contacting the chamber at [email protected] or Vivian at the Town of Westlock office at [email protected] or by calling (780)-350-2109.
