WESTLOCK COUNTY – RCMP have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for the fourth youth charged in the vicious attack against an 18-year-old woman near Long Island Lake in September. They are also searching for the victim’s vehicle that was stolen during the offence. It is a 2010 Green Mini Cooper with the Alberta license plate CPL-5715.

“The Alberta RCMP dedicated a large number of investigators to quickly solve this priority investigation,” said Staff Sergeant Jeff Sehn in a media release on Nov. 8. “It is clear that given the age of the youth, they must be getting assistance to evade capture.  Those providing assistance could face criminal charges including but not limited to obstructing justice and parties to offence.”

All four youth are charged with attempted murder, robbery, and aggravated assault.  RCMP say three of the youth have been arrested and they continue to search for a fourth youth.  They can’t release his photo or name due to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The youth took the woman to a wooded area north of Westlock where they suddenly attacked her in an attempt to kill her and left her in the forest to die, say police.

She was taken to Westlock hospital and then flown by STARS to an Edmonton hospital. She is expected to survive, according to RCMP.

Three eyewitnesses who rescued the woman in what they described as a “horror movie,” told Town and Country Today that she appeared on the side of the road after coming out of the ditch covered in blood. She told them that she had been stabbed and left in the ditch.
