BREAKING: Severe thunderstorm warning issued for Westlock County

Weather warning includes Town of Westlock and Village of Clyde

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Westlock County including the Town of Westlock and Village of Clyde. A weather alert was issued at 5:04 p.m. July 17.

WESTLOCK — Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Westlock County including the Town of Westlock and Village of Clyde.

A weather alert was issued at 5:04 p.m. July 17, as meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

At that moment, this severe thunderstorm was located 10 km northwest of Legal and was almost stationary.

Environment Canada said heavy downpours can cause flash floods, water pooling on roads and large hail can damage property and cause injury.

Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing either large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
