WESTLOCK — The Canadian Tractor Museum hosted a successful family day weekend event, "All Aboard the Fun," in partnership with the Northern Alberta Freemo model train group. The event was held for three days— from Saturday, Feb. 15 to Monday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 pm.— attracting families and local residents alike with its mix of vintage tractors and intricate model train displays, offering a unique experience for visitors of all ages.
The three-day spectacle saw over 60 guests in attendance. Admission was by donation for the weekend— allowing families to enjoy the exhibits and interactive activities without a set fee. Attendees were treated to the museum’s extensive collection of vintage farming machinery, alongside a captivating, ever-changing model railway setup, featuring lifelike landscapes and detailed miniature stations.
Barb Kostiw, executive director of the Canadian Tractor Museum, says “It’s always wonderful when our museum can engage with our community. This is the first time the museum has hosted this event, and she hopes that it will help increase historical interest, foot traffic and community engagement.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to get our community members to come in, see the trains and see the tractors,” says Kostiw. “Sometimes admissions can be daunting for community members and so this was a great opportunity for people to come check us out.”
This is the second collaboration between the Canadian Tractor Museum and the Northern Alberta Freemo, following a successful partnership in early December 2024. Both organizations expressed interest in hosting similar events in the future.
Typically, the museum is open from late May to September, yet recently has been exploring ways to extend its operating hours. This event was part of the their efforts to engage with the public during its off-season.
