BOYLE — Boyle Healthcare Centre’s emergency department was closed again this past weekend due to a lack of physician coverage.
From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, Saturday, Sept. 21, and Sunday, Sept. 22, patients in need of emergency care at the Boyle Hospital were redirected to alternate emergency departments, including the Athabasca Healthcare Centre, the George McDougall Smoky Lake Healthcare Centre, and the William J. Cadzow Healthcare Centre in Lac La Biche.
The closure was in addition to the ongoing nightly closures of Boyle’s emergency department. Nurses remained on scene to triage and assess any patients presenting to the Healthcare Centre and EMS in the community were also available.
