Jack Jacob Kushneryk

Jack Jacob Kushneryk, born May 16, 1936, passed away June 25, 2024, at the ripe old age of 88. He was born on the family homestead at Halach Alberta – the youngest of a family of six, to Steve and Sophie Kushneryk.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carrie; sons, Cliff (Anna Liza) of Rochester, Gary of Rochester, Jim (Tara) of Hinton; daughter, Janice (friend Randy) of Alliance; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Steve and Sophie; brothers Mike, Emil, and Walter; sisters Josie and Helen; sisters-in-law Pauline and Jennie; brothers-in-law Bill, John, Charles and Dave; parents-in-law Les and Dorothy; son-in-law Roger.

He loved farming, music, family, and bologna. He was a talented musician who specialized on the accordion, but also played guitar, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle. Through the years he played in several bands including Star Serenaders, Harmony Tones, Johnny and the Boys, and the last band he played in: The Good Old Boys. He also had a band called Jack and the Boys that included his sons Cliff and Gary.

The farm at Dapp was known as the Funny Farm because of the escapades of Jack and his friends, family, and neighbors.

In his 50’s he challenged the automotive mechanic course and passed and started his own automotive shop in Rochester.

His funeral was held Monday, July 1, 2024, at Perryvale Hall at 2:00 pm.
