It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John de Jong, on January 2, 2020, with his family by his side. John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda (Properzi) de Jong; four children; Angela (Andy) Fraedrich, Barbara (Joshua) Chappin, Gary (Linda) de Jong and Gina (Tyson) Hove; fourteen grandchildren; Emerson, Lincoln, Peyton, Austin, Bentley, Ashten, Blakley, Danica, Avery, Kaylee, Keira, Pierce, Quinn, and Pyper; sisters; Trudy (Arnold) Van Zalen, Anne (Ralph) Van Reenan and Chris (Terry) Kuhnert; sister-in-law, Margo de Jong. He is predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Sylvia de Jong; brother, Andy de Jong; mother and father-in-law, Abraham and Irene Properzi. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2020, from the Barrhead United Church with Rev. David Pype officiating. Interment will follow at Naples Community Cemetery. Memorial donations in John’s name may be made to a charity of choice.
