Leonard Henri Garon
September 03, 1940 – December 27, 2019
It is with great sadness, that Cindy (John) Doyle and Daniel (Brandy) Garon announce the passing of their father, Leonard Henri Garon. Leonard’s life was filled with much love, and many will miss him, including his 3 grandchildren Sylvain, Joy, and John-Paul; 2 brothers, Wilfred (Jeanette) of Pickardville and Eugene of Australia, and sister-in-law Gladys of Clyde; 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. Leonard was also loved by his ex-wife and friend Linda, and daughter-in-law Gina-Marie Garon, as well as countless friends and teammates from his years playing hockey, work with the Knights of Columbus, and years of “high standard” construction. He was predeceased by his parents Amedee and Exillia, brother Victor, sister-in-law Lorana; sister Doris, brother Roland, nephew Joey, and other beloved great nieces and nephews. Leonard will be remembered for many things; his great love for his family and friends, travel, and his love for the sport of hockey. Most of all, Leonard will be remembered for his warm smile, and the glint of mischief in his eyes.
A funeral service will be held on Friday January 10th, 2020 at 1:00 pm in the St. Benoit RC Church, in Pickardville. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to the caring and compassionate staff at the Westlock Healthcare Centre and Dr. Noel Da Cunha, who took such very special care of Leonard in the last months of his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Westlock Healthcare Centre or the Westlock Minor Hockey Association. Donations to the WMHA can be sent to the Westlock Funeral Home in Leonard’s name, and they will forward as a scholarship to help fund a low income child play hockey.
