Patricia “Pat” Bellamy

Aug 2nd, 1928 to Sep 12th, 2022

Pat peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord in Newport News Virginia at the age of 94 years.

She was born in Detroit Michigan, grew up in Kensington Maryland, and raised her family in Newport News Virginia. She married her life partner Ed Bellamy in June 1949. The Bellamy’s moved to Athabasca in 1974, and Pat lived in her home at Big Coulee Farms until she chose to return to Virginia in Nov 2014.

Over the years Pat volunteered in the Athabasca Agricultural Society, in organizing lunches for teens, and later established and organized the annual Community Christmas meal. She was a ministry leader and bookkeeper for the Boyle Community Church for many years. Pat also worked for the County of Athabasca and for Athabasca University among other jobs in our community.

Pat loved people. She was always ready to entertain visitors in her home or go out for a visit or a meal with friends. Everyone she met was an immediate friend. She loved conversation, learning about the person(s) she was speaking with, and new challenging ideas.

Pat is survived by her children - Rusty Bellamy (Agnes), Vickie Bellamy; her grandchildren - Heather Greene, David Greene, Stephen Mincone; her sisters – Wilamina Frost and Allyn Marks; her brother – Mike Barch; her foster daughter -Marie Boyd (Wesley); and other family members in the U.S.

She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and a sister.

A celebration of life was held at Grace United Methodist Church in Newport News on Thursday, Sep 22, 2022.
