It’s standard practice every November.
On the first Sunday of the month, people in Alberta turn their clocks back one hour, to return from daylight savings time back to standard time, gaining an extra hour of sleep in the process.
The annual fall-back takes place at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Many wifi-connected devices automatically adjust, but those that are battery-operated, or of the analog variety, will require a human touch to stay on time. The same goes for clocks on appliances.
Most of Saskatchewan, some areas in B.C. and Yukon stay on standard time year-round.
In Alberta, the idea of ditching the time change was considered in a referendum in 2021, but slightly over half of those who cast a ballot wanted to keep daylight savings time.
