Cooler temperatures and smoky, overcast skies didn’t deter jet boat enthusiasts from near and far from taking part in the Athabasca Riverboat Association’s second jet boat rally July 17 which included a poker rally Saturday and a jet boat rodeo on Sunday. Forty-one boats from as far away as Sundre made the trip to get in on one Athabasca’s first public events since the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, which put the rally on hold in 2020. Participants started at the riverfront in Athabasca, hitting checkpoints, first to the west and then to the north, ending up at the Riverside Recreation Area in the Richmond Park area. Chris Zwick
