WESTLOCK - One person is dead following an early-morning Oct. 21 two-vehicle crash one kilometre north of the Hamlet of Pickardville turnoff on Highway 44.
Police, fire and emergency crews were called to the scene around 8 a.m. Wednesday where a southbound semi truck hauling heavy equipment and a northbound Ford Escape collided. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist was called to the location to determine how the accident happened. Meanwhile, north and southbound traffic was diverted around the scene via local roads until police conclude their investigation — highway clean up began around 11:30 a.m.
Next of kin are in the process of being notified and no name will be released by the RCMP.
