Making good on a Stanley Cup wager, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith sent two bottles of Foothills whisky to Florida governor Ron DeSantis.
“I just received two bottles of Canadian whisky,” DeSantis said in a video on X, formerly Twitter, posted on July 22. “This looks really, really, good.”
Smith sent a bottle of Highwood Distillery’s Sweet Sippin' Original Maple Whisky and a bottle of Eau Claire Distillery’s Canadian Rye Whisky.
Highwood Distillery is based in High River and Eau Claire Distillery is in Diamond Valley.
DeSantis said the whiskies will be served at the governor’s mansion in Tallahassee, Florida.
The two leaders made a wager on the Stanley Cup final between the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers.
“It all rided on Game 7, and the Panthers were able to pull it out,” DeSantis said.
DeSantis said Florida boasts three of the last five Stanley Cup champions.
“We’re the most tropical state in the United States, and yet, we’ve now become a really strong hockey state.”
