BOYLE – Boyle RCMP are putting on a special event May 16 to celebrate National Police Week and help the local detachment connect with the community.
The Boyle RCMP Detachment is hosting a free barbecue that day from 3-7 p.m., dependent on the weather, partnering up with Northeast Corridor Victims Services and Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre. Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) is also sponsoring the event, along with Off Road Rentals LLB.
National Police Week runs May 15-21 this year with the theme “Connected to our Communities.”
“It's an opportunity for us to emphasize how police officers are both members of the community they live in and members of the police community they work in. This year, we recognize the connection between the police and the citizens we serve and the importance of understanding one another,” states the official National Police Week website.
“True understanding means eliminating assumptions and attitudes and making way for open and constructive conversations balanced with active listening. Connection is the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued, allowing all parties to derive strength from the relationship.”
