Town of Barrhead councillors approved the appointment of Dennis Wilkins to the twinning committee as a member at large at their April 23 meeting. The appointment was made necessary after a former Town of Barrhead council and long-time committee member announced her resignation at the end of March.
Coun. Rod Klumph, the council's representative on the committee, called Wilkins a perfect replacement, saying the pastor at Barrhead's Church of God had a recent Barrhead transplant, and his family stepped up to become a host family for one of the Tokoro, Japan visitors when they came to the community for a week in early March.
"He and his family have been stellar," he said. "They stepped up when needed, and I am pleased I can serve with him on the committee."
