BOYLE - Two men facing charges of attempted murder relating to a Sept. 7 shooting at the Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement made their first appearances in Boyle Provincial Court last week.

Guy Edward Delorme, 30, from Buffalo Lake Métis Settlement and Brendan Christopher Dion, 30, of Edmonton, both appeared in court via CCTV Sept. 22 to answer to one charge each of attempted murder and one charge each of disguise with intent.

Delorme is also charged with assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm and theft of a motor vehicle, while Dion faces additional charges of unauthorized possession and breach of a release order.

Both men will be back in Boyle Provincial Court Oct. 13 for bail hearings.

An RCMP media release, dated Sept. 21, stated Boyle RCMP were called to a residence at the Métis settlement, about 44 km southeast of Boyle, Sept. 7, to respond to a shooting.

“Police were advised en-route that an adult male victim was taken to hospital with a serious life threatening injury. Police were able to locate the residence where the shooting occurred as significant damages were apparent,” the release said.

“A search warrant was obtained for the residence and police seized firearms, ammunition as well as forensic evidence,” leading to the charges against Delorme and Dion.

Boyle RCMP are still investigating and say they do not believe it to be a random act. Anyone with information is asked to contact Boyle RCMP at 780-689-4081, or, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the "P3 Tips" app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
