In Memoriam
“A lost loved one can’t be replaced.
There is no one thing or person that can fill that void that is left.
In time, you learn to live with it.
That’s all you can do.
But, no matter what, regardless of the time that goes by…
You still love them.
You still miss them.
You still wish they were here.
Love doesn’t end.
That’s why grief doesn’t either.”
It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since we tragically
lost our beloved parents. In all honesty, we still miss them today
as much as we did the day we lost them. We didn’t realize how
much they filled our lives until they weren’t there to pick up our
calls, return our texts or see them on their deck waiting for our
visits. Now we find ourselves scouring our phones for voicemails,
videos, text messages just to remember how precious those
moments were. Fortunately for us girls, Mom and Dad never let a
conversation end without always telling us “I love you,” which we
now hold gratefully in our hearts.
This past year has brought with it many tough decisions and
challenges, but we honestly now appreciate why our Mom and Dad
chose to settle and create their life in the community of Barrhead
over 50 years ago. This community has shown such kindness
and generosity in so many different forms; from the many cards
of sympathy we received, to thoughtful keepsakes, to rehoming
of loved animals and especially from the expressions of care and
hugs we receive whenever we run into ones in the community
who knew our parents. We love hearing about Mom and Dad and
how you knew them and stories you may have – we apologize in
advance for the tears that we may shed – but never hold back
from sharing these words with us as it makes us appreciate how
blessed we were to have such vibrant parents. Thank you with all
our hearts for showing us how a community pulls together when tragedies happen.
