Job Summary:

In an effort to respond to denials, delays or disruptions of services Saddle Lake Health Care Centre (SLHCC) the Community Health Worker plays a key role in this initiative by acting as a support for individuals and families, by providing information, resources, linking programs and services, and monitoring/evaluating the response. The CHW is responsible for advocating on behalf of and supporting clients to resolve Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and other health related issues.

Education and Training:

• Post-secondary education (diploma and/or degree) in related field (health education, public health)

• Microsoft Office (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge and Experience:

• At least 2 - 3 years of experience in a related capacity.

• Able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), including Google Docs, Adobe etc.

• Demonstrate cultural and traditional communication and competence

• Proven track record in developing professional relationships with different health system providers

• Demonstrate knowledge of Treaty Six Medicine Chest Clause.

• Experience in developing and implementing program work plans. Other Requirements:

• Valid Driver’s License

• Speak and understand the Cree language an asset
