WESTLOCK - The annual Northern Impact sale of Charolais bulls, with consignors Spruce View Charolais and Valanjou Charolais Ranch, saw 52 bulls sell for for $313,100 March 18 at the North Central Livestock Exchange near Clyde.
Spruce View Charolais (the Lakusta family) of Andrew sold 32, two-year-old Charolais bulls, for a total of $210,000 to average $6,566 each. Two of their bulls each brought the top price of $11,000.
Lot 1, Spruce View Garrett 1193G, an April 17, 2019 bull sired by JSR ESTRADA 52E, had a birthweight of 96 pounds and a sale weight of 1,810 pounds with a 43-centimetre scrotal measure. The bull was purchased for $11,000 by Ray and Kelly Konieczny of Mannville.
Lot 4, Spruce View Geraldo 511G, also sired by JSR ESTRADA 52E was the second $11,000 bull. The April 17, 2019 had a 100 pound birthweight and a 1,690-pound sale weight with a 42- centimetre scrotal measure. Sherwood Charolais and Be Rich Stock Farms of Kitscoty bought this bull.
Valanjou Charolais Ranch of Clyde (Philippe Lusson and family) sold 20 yearling French Charolais bulls for $103,000 to average $5,150.
Their high-selling bull was Lot 46, Anjou Harley 3H, sired by BOB’S FLEX FIT 56F for $7,500. The Jan. 12, 2020 bull had a birthweight of 96 pounds and a sale weight of 1,390 pounds with a 41-centimetre scrotal measure. SRC Ranch Ltd. of Bruderheim purchased this bull.
The second high-selling yearling bull of Valanjou Ranch was lot 38, Anjou Hifi 36H, sired by Pleasant Dawn GTO 214D. The Feb. 11, 2020 bull had a birthweight of 98 pounds and a sale weight of 1,360 pounds with a 36-centimetre scrotal measure. This bull was purchased for $6,750 by Brad Hein of Makwa, Sask.
