A High River couple can speed up its retirement plans after winning the lottery in October.
Business owners Theresa Bourdeau and Charles King won $2 million on Western 649, the WCLC said on Nov. 18.
In addition to sharing a business, the couple shares kids and grandkids, and told the lottery corporation they have plans for the money.
“We can both officially retire now,” King said. “It feels shocking and over the top.”
Bourdeau said there’s talk of a family vacation, and the couple looks forward to spending more time with their grandchildren.
Bourdeau discovered the win by scanning the ticket on a lottery app. Initially, she thought they had won $2,000, but then realized the winning ticket was worth much more.
Bourdeau and King purchased their winning WESTERN 649 ticket from Rexall in High River.
They won their prize by correctly matching all six of the numbers selected in the Oct. 5 WESTERN 649 draw: 9, 13, 36, 37, 41 and 42.
