RCMP police vehicle rammed by fleeing suspect in Central Alberta

Mounties are seeking the public’s assistance to locate a suspect who allegedly rammed his vehicle into an Innisfail RCMP cruiser.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a media release that at around 9:20 a.m. on June 5 Innisfail RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious truck at the Ghost Pine store in Pine Lake, located about 44 kilometres east of Innisfail.

Savinkoff said witnesses suspected the occupants of the vehicle were using drugs.

He said RCMP located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. 

When the RCMP officer was outside of his vehicle the suspect vehicle reversed at a high rate of speed, said Savinkoff. 

“The officer moved out of the way and was nearly hit; the suspect vehicle struck the RCMP vehicle causing significant damage,” said Savinkoff. “ The vehicle sped away at a high rate of speed and has not been located.

He said the suspect vehicle is described as:

• 2016 Ford F-150;

• four- door;

• white;

• significant scratches all over the truck; and,

• having Alberta licence plate CMN2779.

Savinkoff said RCMP are continuing their investigation and are asking for public assistance in locating the vehicle and identifying the driver. 

Anyone with information about this vehicle or the driver is asked to call the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342.
