ST. PAUL – The St. Paul RCMP officer arrested on child exploitation charges following an investigation by ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit will be back in court in August.
On July 25, the defense for the accused - Evan Peacock, 33 - asked for leave to withdraw as counsel, as Peacock indicated he intended to seek new counsel.
Justice Ivan Ladouceur gave Peacock two weeks to retain a new lawyer.
Peacock is scheduled to be back in court in St. Paul on Aug. 8 for election and plea.
In April, Peacock was charged by ALERT with two counts of possessing, distributing, and accessing child pornography.
He was released with order conditions and was suspended from work, with pay.
In June, the Alberta RCMP’s Eastern Alberta District General Investigative Section investigated Peacock for soliciting sex with underage females online.
He was charged with one count of child luring, and another charge for failing to comply with release order conditions following the April investigation. Peacock was remanded into custody.
