City of Calgary lifts indoor water restrictions.

Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek announced the City is one giant step closer to returning water usage to normal on July 2.

Today, indoor water use can return to normal while outdoor level four water restrictions continue until Calgary's water system is stabilized. Residents are encouraged to gradually resume normal indoor water use.

Fire bans remain in place and the City of Calgary remains in State of Local Emergency.

Three crews worked all day yesterday to flush water through hydrants. With production increasing at the Bearspaw water treatment plant, critical maintenance was able to be performed at the Glenmore water treatment  plant. The Bearspaw water main has now been brought up to 50 per cent capacity and crews continue to stabilize the system.

Gondek expressed her gratitude for residents reducing their usage of water over the past month. Emergency services were never left without water.

A water feeder main in Calgary ruptured on June 5, resulting in strict water restrictions for the City of Calgary and surrounding communities like Airdrie who use Calgary's water. While the main rupture was fixed nearly two weeks later, crews found five more hot spots along the water feeder that required immediate remediation before water restrictions could be lifted this week.
