CANMORE – An 80-year-old woman was airlifted in critical condition after being struck by a cube van in Canmore on Tuesday (Sept. 17).
EMS responded at around 11:50 a.m., on the 1700 block of Bow Valley Trail, after the woman from Ontario had sustained multiple traumatic injuries.
The patient was transported to Canmore Hospital and then taken by a STARS Air Ambulance to Calgary Foothills Medical Centre.
“The patient was subsequently flown from Canmore to Calgary Foothills Medical Centre, in critical condition,” said Stuart Brideaux, AHS public education officer.
“The intent was to initially fly the patient directly to Calgary; however, STARS was on another flight at the time.”
The driver of the van remained on scene. No charges have been made at this time.
“It's still early in the investigation, so it'll still be open whether or not charges are laid,” Sgt. Lacey Blair, RCMP media relations officer.
