NEERLANDIA – The Neerlandia Escape Rooms are back and bigger and better than the last event with bookings available for Feb. 13 to Feb.15 and Feb. 20 to Feb 22.
“We created two new rooms for this year,” said Cynthia VanDaaselaar, one of the event creators.
“We've had a lot of really good comments over the years that they (the escape rooms) are fairly comparable to the ones running in the city.”
There are three different themes within the escape rooms where players figure out the clues to solve the mystery in their chosen room.
Players get 40 minutes in the room to solve the mystery and support people are on hand to assist if needed in this unique event in the Barrhead area.
One of the new mystery rooms is a shipwreck scene where players use the clues to rescue their friend and get him out of the room.
The second room is in a museum setting and there is a prized painting that they need to authenticate using the clues in the room.
The Hunting Room mystery has been revamped and is appropriate for elementary aged children and their families or players of any age.
When players arrive, they are given the introduction story about what is happening and what their goal is for the room as per VanDaaselaar.
Then the player(s) are led into the room, the 40-minute timer starts, and the adventure begins.
The object of the event is to find the clues and solve the mystery in the time given.
After the mystery is solved, there are refreshments provided, and players are welcome to stay and mingle.
Guests can watch as other players exit their rooms and share in the enjoyment and fun excited by everyone who comes out for the event according to VanDaaselaar.
These are not the kind of escape rooms where you are locked in a room, this is an entertaining way to have some fun and do something that is different.
VanDaaselaar says there are also no ‘red herring’ clues that will take you down the wrong path in solving the mystery.
The clues are challenging, and they lead you down the path to winning the game.
The cost to experience solving a mystery is $15/person per room or $50 for a family room.
Players can book to solve the mysteries in more than one room and make a day of it.
People can call/text Nicole at 780-284-2020 to book a time for the room you are interested in experiencing.
The event is being held at the Canadian Reformed Church in Neerlandia and is hosted by the CCRS Ladies Aid.
This is a fundraiser for the Canadian Reform School to raise money for building an ice rink and basketball court for outdoor sports activities for the kids.
