SWAN HILLS/WOODLANDS COUNTY - A 36-year-old Whitecourt man is facing a break-and-enter to commit theft charge after being arrested by Swan Hills RCMP following an incident in early August.

In a media release, Swan Hills RCMP Detachment commander Stephan Manaigre stated that on Aug. 2, shortly before 9 a.m., police received a report that a male was trespassing at an R360 Environmental Solutions Canada near Highway 32 in Woodlands County.

The company provides high-performance oil and gas waste disposal, recycling and treatment solutions to oil and natural gas producers.

"Businesses are increasing their efforts to assist us in apprehending suspects who commit crimes on rural properties," Manaigre said. "Our RCMP members have fostered good relationships with our local businesses and provided them with tips on how to assist in deterring crime."

He added that he encourages the public to call their local RCMP promptly whenever they observe suspicious activity, saying it was such a call that they were able to apprehend the suspect.

"A savvy employee's prompt call to police and our members' swift response allowed us to catch the suspect in the act," Manaigre said.

Police released Tyler Cody Bennett on conditions. His first court appearance will be on Sept. 10 in Barrhead Court of Justice.
