RICH VALLEY – On Saturday, Dec 7, the third annual Rich Valley Carnival is happening, and it offers heartwarming, holly, jolly fun for people of all ages.
All of this excitement happens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rich Valley Arena.
“I truly believe that this is an event where there is something for everybody,” said Shaylynn McGee, one of the event organizers.
“The cookie decorating, the skating, and the sleigh rides are all completely free for everybody.”
“You can come have an enjoyable day without spending any money.”
The Fox & Hare Facepainting ladies will be there and there are loads of creative face paint images to choose from.
Sparkle Tattoos is being done by the artist Trudy Chouinard and she can delight anyone with a beautiful temporary tattoo.
The facepainting and sparkle tattoos are also free,
All of the fabulous free activities are supported by the generous sponsors for the event, Pembina Pipeline and Fortis.
The Sleigh rides are being offered by Gary & Brenda Chevalier who own and operate Mule Skinner Tours. They have 20 years of experience providing safe fun sleigh rides for people at area events.
Freson Bros is sponsoring the cookie decorating.
This is a fundraiser for the school and there is plenty of low-cost activities to experience.
There are spectacular donated raffle prizes for the adults to get in on and there are a lot! “Last year we had over $6000 worth of raffle prizes,” remarked McGee.
There are thousands of dollars’ worth of raffle prizes for the $2 bucket raffle.
“There's ten different games that kids can play and it's $1.00 to play a game.”
“Generally, kids get 5 attempts, and everyone win at least one coin for playing even if you're not like successful in whatever game it was to a maximum of five coins.”
“The kids get to exchange those coins for prizes. We've got thousands of dollars’ worth of prizes that kids can win with the coins."
“We work all year long to get some really good prizes for the kids to win.”
“There's a shooting game. There's a darts game or you're like popping balloons on a tree. There's mini golf. There's a football game and kind of a baseball game,” explained McGee.
“All kinds of stuff throwing games like toss games.”
So much fun for kids, parents, seniors, singles, partners, friends and family!
“Last year we had over 300 people attend,” McGee commented.
This is a marvellous way to spend a Saturday by taking in the wide variety of free activities, watching all of the children have the time of their lives and get a raffle ticket for a chance at the fantastic prizes offered. Meet up with some old friends or have a chat with some new ones.
