RCMP arrest Mayerthorpe suspect

An emergency alert was issued on Sept. 17 after an armed robbery in Mayerthorpe

RCMP have arrested a suspect after an armed robbery in Mayerthorpe lead to an emergency alert.

On Sept. 18 at 8:39 a.m. the Alberta Emergency Alert advised that RCMP cancelled the Dangerous Person Alert.

“One of the suspects from yesterday's armed robbery is in custody. Investigation continues regarding the other, but he is no longer considered an imminent threat to the public.” stated the Alert message.

“It is safe to resume normal activities.”

On Sept. 17 at 10:20 a.m. cell phones lit up with an emergency alert.

RCMP issued a Dangerous Person Alert for the Mayerthorpe area. 

The alert was in effect for Highway 18 and Township Road 572A, between Range Road 92 and Range Road 80, after two men fled on foot after an armed robbery.
