RCMP are continuing their search for a semi-driver involved in a hit and run on Highway 43 near Mayerthorpe.

The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 25, leaving a man with a broken leg, hip and pelvis.

Police say the victim had been driving south on the four-lane, divided highway when he struck a deer.

As he was getting back into the vehicle after stopping to move the deer’s body off the road, he was clipped by a southbound semi truck and trailer that continued without stopping.

The victim’s passenger helped get him off the highway and called for an ambulance.

The man was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to Edmonton.

Police have a limited description of the semi. It was pulling a white cargo trailer with lots of orange and red lights down its side.

Anyone who has information about the incident should contact Mayerthorpe RCMP at 780-786-2291, or call their local police.
