Pembina Hills Citizenship Awards presented to rural and virtual students

Pembina Hills School Division awarded Citizenship awards to deserving students throughout June in several of the rural communities.

There are seven students who were recognized and received their award from the Pembina Hills School Board.

"Congratulations to these students for receiving the Citizenship awards,” commented the Pembina Hills Board of Trustees on their website.

These students that contributed positively to their school and community over the school year.

Anna Van Bostelen – Vista Virtual School– Anna is a dedicated learner who strives for excellence.

Her dedication to personal growth and a well-rounded approach to situations makes her a role model student.

She has a passion for equestrian activities and applies her diligence and responsibility to adherence to procedural and safety expectations of participants.

Anna’s exemplary academic successes, compassion for others and animals and her hard-working resolve makes her an exceptional person with a bright future.

Kylena C – Vista Virtual School– Kylena is a hard-worker who is dedicated to avoiding distractions and achieving her school goals.

She is accountable and participates actively in discussions while maintaining a positive respectful approach to others.

Kylena provides a consistent model in being successful in learning independently in the virtual school environment.

Logan Mierau – Vista Virtual School– Logan is a bright light with a positive attitude and an infectious smile.

He is a hardworking individual who strives for excellence in everything he does. His willingness to help others and support in their growth is commendable.

Logan has fantastic organizational skills with an enthusiasm for learning and achieving his goals.

Lina Kafta – Fort Assiniboine School – Lina is recognized for being a positive and inspiring go-getter.

She was a volleyball and basketball player who also stepped up and coached the elementary teams.

Lina’s influential leadership reflects in her coaching style by lifting players confidence and skill abilities, celebrating successes, encouraging each player to grow and being a role model.

Lina achieved a milestone in her participation in winning the Tier 2 junior high girls’ basketball championship, not seen since 1998 for the school.

Phillip Callihoo – Swan Hills School – Phillip is someone who contributes his time and effort into volunteering within the school and the community.

His humanitarian efforts extend to school lunchroom operations, community events in many capacities and collecting food bank donations.

He is an avid mentor for new students at the gym and is to “Go-TO” person for advice with his open positive attitude and supportive nature.

Owen MacDonald – Swan Hills School – has shown his generous nature and dedication to excellence in stepping forward to coach the junior boys’ basketball team.

With his innovative approach, Owen has created an environment for unlimited skill and confidence building within the team.

He demonstrated positivity, mutual respect, tenacity and commitment to excellence.

Owen’s kind inclusive approach celebrates individuals, seeing the talent and the magic in each player and cohesively brings the abilities into a cohesive unit striving for success.

Charlie L`Heureux – Dunstable School – Charlie is the president of the Dunstable School Student Committee.

He is an inspiration to other students as a Kinder buddy, someone who builds supportive relationships with younger students.

His charismatic personality, ability to provide guidance to others and be responsible for leading meetings draws admiration from students and teachers alike.

Charlie’s can-do approach to life, school and his community shows he is in store for amazing things in his future.

Students are nominated for the honour of receiving a citizenship award.

These students demonstrate good values and judgments that have highlighted them as students who deserve award recognition.

Their citizenship award achievement sets the bar for others to emulate similar behaviours to positively impact their experiences in the community.
