The Paddle River Golf Club hosted its first Seniors Open on July 11.
“There are 14 players who will play nine holes, have lunch and then play another nine holes,” said Chelsi Measures, manager and organizer of this event.
Players started teeing off on their rounds at 10:30 in the morning.
“The first nine holes went very well but the score doesn’t show it,” joked Diane Corbett, one of the players in the Senior Open.
“It’s a course that is hard to play because of all the trees,” commented Michel Belanger.
Wes Versailles remarked smiling, “I put one on the road. I think it’s on its way to Rich Valley in a pick-up.”
It was a casual atmosphere while everyone gathered for lunch.
Players were enjoying themselves.
When asked which hole is the most difficult, Frank Gray responded, “All of them, pick a number.”
While all the players we spoke to joked about their golf games, people commented on the how hot it was.
The high temperatures were affecting the play, and players were trying to stay in the shade.
Fun was really the goal of the event and it was a success.
All of the players were expected to complete their 18 holes by 3 pm in the afternoon.
Prizes were awarded for a number of categories.
