Bonnie Lothian currently lives in this RV with no water and her fridge just died.

Bonnie Lothian, a resident of Fort Assiniboine, has been living in a motorhome near Barrhead for the last year and is on the verge of homelessness.

“My husband got sick and passed within six months and I fell apart,” commented Lothian.

“It had started with his legs swelling and he ended up having triple-bypass surgery in Barrhead where they found cancer.”

Everything snowballed for them, and it wasn’t long before he lost this fight.

A friend who recognizes that Lothian has given so much to others has organized a Go-Fund-Me to provide Lothian with enough to have a fresh start.

Lothian has been a humanitarian for many years, raising money for causes including cancer, crisis relief situations and helping people who are in dire straits.

After her husband’s passing Lothian had difficulty coping with everyday situations and the bills racked up.

Lothian has health challenges of her own and uses a cane for mobility.

She lost her Fort Assiniboine home and had no option but live in an old 84 Allegro motorhome that her husband was fixing up that isn’t fit for travel at any distance.

Even living in the motorhome has stretched what money she has.

She has no running water, and her fridge just broke down.

Her greatest fear is how she will survive the winter.

The truck she has is old and not reliable, but it may be the only housing option she has because she is trying to sell the motorhome for money.

Lothian has no support network and no family that can help her out.

She is struggling to follow the processes to get the kind of government support that can help her exist.

The mental stress and anxiety of her situation magnifies the loneliness she feels.

Lothian explains that she has searched for affordable housing for months and has had little luck.

She has finally found a little place in Swan Hills but has to come up with the down payment and first month’s rent.

Lothian hopes she can avoid homelessness.
