Finding a scare of an adventure south of Barrhead

Pots 'n' Pansies Greenhouse hosts the third annual Haunted House attraction Oct. 18, 19 and Oct. 26

BARRHEAD – This is the third year for the “Haunted House” event run by volunteers offering visitors the telling of a scary story and a walk through the trees at night.

Horror characters walk the trails through the trees looking for an opportunity to give goers a fright.

The event was hosted at the Pots ‘n’ Pansies Greenhouse off Highway 654, a 20 minute drive, south of Barrhead on Saturday, Oct. 26.

“Money raised will go towards the Ripple Connection and donations to the Food Bank,” shared Shelley Batdorf, volunteer running the store.

“This is the first year of us running on our own and all the reviews have been excellent so far.”

“We have a great crew and it makes a big difference.”

Scare volunteers include Keira Butler, Branden Young, Maddy Yatkowski, Glenn Phillips and others.

Visitors check in at the store and pick their spot on a wagon that carries them around to the haunted forest walk while listening to a nail-biting story.

One of the characters greets the guests and cautions them to watch their step through the uneven ground along the path.

The opening has a display of bloodied mangled body parts and skeleton bones.

The shows level of scary is adjusted depending on the age of the audience.

The trail only allows for a single file stroll with heartbeat-raising features displayed along the way.

Scary mood music echoes through the trees as visitors stroll into the unknown.

Guests are wary of their progress, unsure of what or who may pop out on the trail or block their way at any moment.

All in good fun, it was quite the adventure.

There will be one more night of Tours on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Book in advance to ensure you don’t get left out by calling Shelley at 780-305- 6310.
