Driessen De Rudder new law office opening attracts crowd

The Driessen De Rudder Law Office has moved to their new location and held an open house on Oct. 18

BARRHEAD – The grand opening of the Driessen De Rudder Law offices on Oct. 18 had a wide variety of visitors to tour the brand-new office, see the bunker for wills and enjoy lunch.

“It is so exciting.” Brant C. De Rudder, Barrister and Solicitor stated.

“Planning started in November (2023) and they broke ground in March.”

The new building has a bunker where they have gone all out in building secure storage for wills.

Fire-proof file cabinets, concrete walls over 6 inches thick, and multiple sump pumps to protect from flooding.

“We have original wills dating back to 1914 in storage.” De Rudder shared.

“Everything is moving digital.”

The system in place has multiple servers with 9 redundant servers and duplicate off-site back-ups, with a secure key access set-up according to De Rudder.

De Rudder explained that during the excavation of the site the crew found vintage railway ties, and these have been incorporated into the landscaping in the back of the building.

The previous Driessen De Rudder office was originally the Barrhead train station, and the railway tracks ran along that section of land.

Martin M. Driessen K.C. started in Barrhead as the sole practitioner at the Driessen Law office.

Driessen met De Rudder in 2009 when he applied for a summer job as a law student.

The actual moving of furniture, files and supplies took place Oct. 19-20 with the help of the Barrhead Jujitsu club.
