BARRHEAD – It’s time to set your clocks back this weekend with daylight saving ending on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 2.a.m.
It might seem like this is happening too early since the weather has been so nice this fall. Get ready to enjoy an extra hour with the ‘fall back’ of time.
An extra hour to sleep, relax, or get an extra chore completed, it’s up to you.
In Canada, daylight saving time was first implemented in 1908. It was proposed in 1985 by George Vernon Hudson, New Zealand entomologist, to conserve energy and match daylight hours to most people are awake as per the History.com website.
There is a theory that daylight saving time was created for farmers but that is false.
Hudson believed that with the daylight saving time shift there is more light in the morning hours and less light in the evening hours.
Today, daylight saving is used around the world, but not every province, state or country partakes.
Alberta certainly follows daylight saving so enjoy your extra hour this weekend when you set the clocks back one hour.
