BREAKING: High river streamflow advisory issued for Pembina, Paddle and Freeman Rivers

High Streamflow Advisory for Pembina, Paddle and Freeman Rivers where waters may rise up to one metre with the anticipated rainfall forecasted

A high streamflow advisory was issued by Alberta River Forecasting Centre on July 24 for the Athabasca River Basin including the Pembina River, Paddle River and the Freeman River.

Environment Canada is forecasting a low pressure system that will bring rainfall across Northern Alberta from Wednesday July 24 to Saturday July 27.

Due to the widespread rainfall forecast an advisory for an increase in river streamflow has been issued.

The Pembina River and Paddle River can expect water levels of one to two metre being possible.

Low-lying areas along both rivers could be impacted.

Widespread flooding is not expected.

There is the possibility of overland ponding as the water rises and encroaches on the land.

A map with specific readings can be found on the Alberta River Basins website.
