Barrhead Survivor Bowl champions

Six bowlers are still in the running for the Alberta Survivor Bowl

BARRHEAD – It’s been an exciting competition and the three finalists in the Barrhead Survivor Bowl have been named.

“A lot of bowlers were checking every week to see if they were still in the running. They had a really good time!” said Tracy Overeem, Blue Heron Bowling Alley Manager.

“I think they'll definitely participate again next year.”

The Winning top survivor is Rodney Greilach scoring a total 113 points above average last week.

The second place Survivor is Matt Visser 104 points above his average.

Third place Survivor is Carol Sheron with 75 points above her average.

The Barrhead Consolation winner is Peter Tymkow.

Congratulations to the Barrhead Survivor Winners said Overeem.

The winners received bragging rights and a cash prize and are still in the provincial Survivor Bowl competition.

The Alberta Survivor Bowl continues with an anticipated completion at the end of March.

Barrhead bowlers are still in the running for the provincial competition.

Overeem said there are six people competing for the top prize.

There are seven people still in the Alberta Survivor Bowl consolation group.

The provincial competition is hosted by Alberta Bowl and open to their member centres.

Overeem hosted a local Barrhead Survivor Bowl following the same guidelines as the Alberta Survivor Bowl.

Registered bowlers competing in the challenge attended and bowled each week in their five-pin bowling leagues.

The results of their bowled games are submitted online on the Bowl Alberta website for the Survivor Bowl competition according to Overeem.

The scores are tabulated based on pins over average.

Pins over average takes a bowler’s games average score subtracted from the players games total score.

Beginner bowlers and expert level bowlers can all be evaluated in the same way which evens the playing field, and anyone can win Survivor Bowl.

The scoring method creates a way for bowlers of all levels of skill to compete. Each week during the competition half of the registered bowlers will be eliminated from the provincial competition.

For bowlers eliminated early in the game have a second chance in the consolation category to compete.

The last 20 bowlers to survive in the provincial competition will compete in a big showdown.

The results are tracked on the Bowl Alberta website.
