Barrhead didn’t have to wait long for the first baby of 2014 to arrive.
Wrapped in a blanket and cradled in her mother’s arms, one-day-old Keelie Darlene Wilson was getting ready to leave Barrhead Hospital Jan. 2.
The healthy nine pound nine ounce baby girl was born at 5:24 p.m. on Jan. 1, much to the delight of mother Taylor Wilson.
Little Keelie took her time making her debut. Taylor’s original due date was Dec. 22, however the date came and went with no new family member in sight.
The mother-to-be was scheduled for an induction Jan. 2, but baby had other plans.
“We were actually going to be induced today,” laughed Taylor, looking down at her new daughter. “But she came on her own.”
There were no surprises in the delivery room, as the family already knew they would be welcoming a beautiful baby girl into the world.
It’s good to finally have her here, said Taylor. Her arrival was long awaited.
Keelie isn’t Taylor’s first child. She has one son who will be two years old next month, waiting patiently with husband Justin at their home in Blue Ridge.
When mom and baby left the Barrhead Hospital Jan. 2, Taylor was heading home where her two children would meet for the first time.
Will their newborn daughter complete the family? Taylor thinks so.
“We’ve got one of each now,” she smiled.
