Look here for the results of the Town of Barrhead's Dec. 2 Neutral Space Bylaw plebiscite vote as soon as they are known.
The bylaw states that to ensure all public buildings, crosswalks, and flags remain neutral, it would limit crosswalks within the town's borders to the conventional stripped ladder or continental pattern between two parallel lines all in white. It would also restrict flags on municipally owned facilities or property to those of the national, provincial, and the Town of Barrhead.
The bylaw would also prohibit decorations on town crosswalks or the display of flags supporting political, social, or religious movements or commercial entities.
Existing flags or crosswalks will not be grandfathered.
Voting will occur at the Barrhead Seniors' Drop-in Centre from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Institutional voting will also take place at Barrhead Healthcare Centre, Shepherd's Care, Hillcrest Lodge, Jubilee Manor, Golden Crest, and Klondike Place.
Eligible voters must be at least 18 years old, Canadian citizens and reside in the Town of Barrhead. Voters must provide either one photo identification issued by the Canadian, provincial, and local governments or by an agency that also contains the person's name and address.
In lieu of photo identification, authorized by the Chief Electoral Officer under the Election Act, that establishes the person's name and current address.
Advanced voting took place on Nov. 20 and 28.
